The introduction of new services including crane services, machinery moving and industrial construction projects has helped to further enhance the company. Recent expansion of our St. Thomas facilities ensures that our customers can fully benefit from a comprehensive range of services together with the reliable quality and personalized service that Yarmouth has become known for.

In 1964, Yarmouth Metal Fabricators moved to a new 3,000 square foot shop on the 6 acre site it calls home today. Howard’s two sons, Bob and Rick got involved and daughter Cathy took on office duties. The site has since grown to occupy 65,000 square feet of shop and office space and runs with up to 75 people on staff. In 1987, the business branched into the specialized area of lifting and moving heavy equipment with cranes. Today, the company operates a fleet of over 20 large and small mobile units that can lift and manuever virtually anything. When Magna International built the Formet Industries plant in St. Thomas, Yarmouth Crane Service placed some of the largest hydro-form presses ever built. When General Electric needed help at its Peterborough plant, it was Yarmouth Crane on the job moving a $26 million component for a nuclear reactor. Moving pieces of equipment weighing over 100 metric tonnes requires accuracy, patience, exceptional skills and major investments in specialized equipment.

There’s another side to Yarmouth Metal and Yarmouth Crane that warrants special recognition. It’s the spirit and attitude that has kept so many employees as long term staff with 20 and 25 year service records. Yarmouth has always been actively involved in the community and regularly contributes expertise, equipment and financial support to a wide range of projects.
